on Wed, 03/19/2014 - 3:45pm

April 2014 welcomes shows on Harambee 101, created by the Junior Black Chamber of Commerce (JBCC), to Green Time TV.  This month’s series include JBCC shows on environmental issues which are facing young black people in the St. Louis area, preserving bee populations and multi-platform programs being prepared by the Community Arts and Movement Project.

The first April show is the debut of Harambee 101, which focuses on “A Look Inside Our Schools.”  It asks how the Individualized Education Plan can help and hurt black students.  Host Ravon Lingard is a youth member of JBCC.  She interviews Mr. Sean Nichols; Principal, Pamoja Preparatory Academy of the St. Louis Public Schools as they discuss the school learning environment.

The second April Green Time is another episode of Harambee 101.  It examines the necessity of caring environments for black children.  Host Xavier Silva is a youth member of the Junior Black Chamber of Commerce (JBCC).  He interviews Darryl L. Wise, CEO, Annie Malone Children & Family Service.  They discuss foster care, children’s homes and the many services that Annie Malone continues to provide to children and youth in the St. Louis area.

Can the disappearance of bees in the US be reversed so that we can save vital species?  During the third April show, Jane Sueme, owner of Isabee’s Beekeeping Equipment and Supplies, discusses the importance of pollinators, bee losses in the US and metro St. Louis, and guidelines for people wanting to keep honeybees.  She asks what the best time is to start with bees, and what it takes to get started.

The Community Arts and Movement Project (CAMP) is on Cherokee St. in south St. Louis city.  The final April episode features resident artist Sarah Paulsen and Sistah Chris, of Healthy Effective Alternatives to Live, exploring how ongoing CAMP programs use art as a social catalyst.  CAMP is a focal point for artists and environmental activists to affect the surrounding neighborhood as well as the broader St. Louis community.
