African cultures were decimated as humans were torn from their homes to provide unpaid slave labor.  This is just one of a multitude of forms of racism.

The concept of reparations for slave descendants begins with an understanding that racist crimes continue.  Africans in America are the first to be hit by unemployment and suffer higher rates of police violence as the income gap between whites and people of color widens.

Reparations are due to all African, Asian and Latin American peoples who have been brutalized.  Yet, loss of biodiversity, toxic poisoning and climate change threaten those who have been most victimized.  How can we provide the basic necessities of life to all people without destroying the environment?
