Platform on Palestine (Approved by MOGP Annual Meeting, August 10, 2025)

For centuries, Muslims, Jews and Christians have lived together in Palestine in harmony and peace under Muslim rule.

The horrible violence that terrorizes the land did not begin on October 7, 2023.

It began over 75 years ago when British troops and Zionist settlers initiated a murderous rampage to drive Palestinian Muslims and Christians out of their homes and seize their land.

Ever since then, Western powers, Britain and especially the US, have encouraged the Zionist state of Israel to be its outpost in the Middle East to watch for its interests. But Israel became an occupier. It developed and continues to develop illegal settlements in the West Bank, in defiance of the United Nations Security Council Resolutions.

The Missouri Green Party believes that to bring peace in the Middle East:

1. The Missouri Green Party believes the Israeli occupation of Palestine must end, all armaments to Israel must be stopped, and we support implementation of United Nations resolutions to end Illegal Settlements with a full right to return for all Palestinian people.

2. The US should support UN resolutions calling for the International Criminal Court to bring charges against Benjamin Netanyahu and his politicians and officers who have participated in war crimes.

3. The US must cease its campaign of “holocaust denial” in Gaza and recognize Israeli violence and the right of Palestinians to defend themselves. The US must also stop (a) its unconditional support for Israeli war crimes, including billions of dollars in foreign aid used to finance the occupation of Palestine, (b) its vetoes of UN resolutions which are designed to constrain Israeli aggression, (c) its persecution of individuals advocating for peace and justice, (d) the sale of military weapons that violate international law and multiple US statutes, (e) and its consent to the blockade of Gaza and restrictions of movement in the West Bank and East Jerusalem. The US must also require the registration of AIPAC as a foreign agent and reject the US/Israel visa waiver (which is not mutual).

Israel must …

A … stop all violence against Palestine, especially on refugee camps, children and reporters.

B … cease using deprivation of food and water as weapons of genocide.

C … immediately release the thousands of Palestinian hostages it holds and calls “prisoners.”

D … cease the torture and rape of Palestinians, both those in jails and those it captures.

E … stop using disease, such as polio, as a weapon of war.

F … rebuild all hospitals and health care centers it has destroyed and provide health care and physical rehabilitation for Palestinians, especially children and those with amputated limbs.

G … provide health care for all Palestinians, and not just a few for TV shows.

H … rebuild all Palestinian (a) homes it has demolished during the occupation, (especially during itsmost recent genocide campaign which began in 2023), (b) water, sewage and electrical systems it has laid waste to(c) places of worship (mosques, churches and temples) it has razed, and (c) universities, schools and learning centers it has destroyed.

I … cease all violent acts against Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, Iran and other neighboring countries.

Many of these statements reflect what is known as “reparations,” or repairing wrongs that have been done. Genuine reparations can only begin with an acknowledgment of wrongs done, an apology for those wrongs, and acceptance of the responsibility to repair the damage. Though the murders, maiming, tortures, and other unspeakable horrors that Israel has committed against the Palestinian people can never be undone, healing cannot take place until Israel admits its crimes.

This statement of what must be done does not in any way imply that no other country has committed such atrocities – it is recognition that the suffering of Palestine is the current focus of attention. What we ask of the US and Israel should become a model for countries across the globe. Nations throughout the world must unite to stop Israel’s genocide by agreeing to stop sending it arms to do so.
